Iran – Eliminated
Even though Iran finished bottom in Group C, the Central Asian side fought bravely and had every rights to be proud of their displays.
Iran U-20 picked up their first win at the FIFA U-20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 1977 by defeating Costa Rica 1-0 in the opening match.
However, a lapse of concentration in defence cost them the match against the African champion as Zambia scored four second-half goals to beat Iran 4-2.
Iran lost their last game to Portugal after an 86-minute deflection helped the European outfit win the match.
