Japan finished third in Group D, behind Italy on goal difference but their record ensures they will progress to Last 16 as one of the four best third-placed nations.

Japan plays against Italy without the help from Koki Ogawa. The striker has been withdrawn from the U-20 World Cup after being diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in the 2-0 defeat to Uruguay on Wednesday.
