New Zealand call up Borneo FC striker for FIFA Confederations Cup

Borneo FC striker Shane Smeltz has been named in the New Zealand’s squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup this year in Russia.

The 35-year-old, who currently plays in Indonesian Liga 1, is the the second-highest goalscorer in the history of All Whites with 24 goals in 52 matches.

The tournament is a precursor to next summer’s World Cup and involves eight countries including New Zealand, who will face Russia, Portugal and Mexico in Group A.
