Borneo FC striker Shane Smeltz has been named in the New Zealand’s squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup this year in Russia.
The 35-year-old, who currently plays in Indonesian Liga 1, is the the second-highest goalscorer in the history of All Whites with 24 goals in 52 matches.
Smeltz played a key role in the New Zealand’s campaign at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where he famously scored against Italy in the group stage of tournament.
The tournament is a precursor to next summer’s World Cup and involves eight countries including New Zealand, who will face Russia, Portugal and Mexico in Group A.
The Confederations Cup starts on June 17 and runs until July 2. It will take place across four Russian cities – Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi.
