Irfan Bachdim: I’m ready to work hard for my place in the national team

Irfan Bachdim has revealed that he would be really proud if given the opportunity to be called up to the Indonesia national team.

The 28-year-old winger promised that he would work hard and deliver good performances in Liga 1 with Bali United.

Indonesia are set to play two friendly matches in June: they first face Cambodia on 8 June and clash with Puerto Rico five days later.

Irfan admitted that he desperately wanted to make the squad; however, the Bali United midfielder will have to face fierce competition from other players, since only five senior players are going to be called up for these friendlies.

“I am always ready for the Indonesian national team,” Irfan told Goal Indonesia.

“If called up, I am very proud and happy, but I have to work hard first.”

The 28-year-old also praised the new national team coach, Luis Milla. According to Irfan, Milla has a good training style to help the player grow.

“I have not met coach Milla yet, but I saw the previous match of the national team match that time and it looked good,” he said.

“He is bringing the philosophy and I love his style of play,” he added.
