Gian Zola has revealed that he is being inspired by Thailand international star Chanathip Songkrasin as he looks to develop his skills.
The 18-year-old diminutive-midfielder is keen to follow in the footsteps of the Muangthong United ace, who has similar physical appearance and style of play to him.
“Every football players have to deal with a risk of being fouled and to do a foul. Now I want to play smarter to evade the tackle from opponents,” said Zola.
“I have watched many video on Youtube, just like Chanathip [Songkrasin] from Thailand, he has small appearance but still can play the best.”
Gian Zola started his football career with Persib U-21 side in 2014 before making his professional debut for the senior squad two years later in the Indonesia Soccer Championship tournament.
