Ezequiel Lavezzi facing racism backlash after posting controversial photo

Ezequiel Lavezzi is facing backlash after a photo released by Hebei China Fortune showed him pulling a slant-eye pose in an apparent attempt to imitate a Chinese person.

The Argentine striker will have some explaining to do after he is seen smiling and making the offensive facial expression while posing a commercial photo shoot for his club.

The controversial image was immediately highlighted on the internet, with some Chinese fans demanding the former Paris Saint-Germain star to leave the country.

“China made Lavezzi the highest paid footballer in the world. In return, he happily mocked and denigrated the Chinese people. What a decent man!” wrote one angry comment on social media.

It is unclear who should take the responsible for the controversial image as neither Lavezzi or Hebei Fortune’s management has given any clarification so far.
