Persib Bandung’s Michael Essien turns out to be not the only former Chelsea player who is keen on playing in Indonesia Liga 1.
A fellow teammate from the Jose Mourinho era, Ashley Cole, could follow Essien’s suit for join an Indonesian club in the near future.
Mathieu Amougou, the agent of Michael Essien and several others who joined the Liga 1 in the past months as marquee players revealed that there have been contacts about a possible move for Ashley Cole.
“As well as my client, Essien, I also had tracked Ashley Cole.”
“After receiving the news that his former colleagues are playing in Indonesia, his agent immediately contacted me. He asked about the possibility of Ashley play in Indonesia,” Amougou said to Bola.
Cole, 36, is currently under contract with Los Angeles Galaxy until December of this year. The famous left-back previously played for Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League, winning 3 domestic titles, 6 FA Cups and 1 Champions League.
Amougou, however, added that there is no shortage of players at Ashley Cole’s position, and the player should consider his option before making the move.
“Foreign players in the position of Ashley Cole are not selling well. The clubs prefer to bring in players in the position of striker, midfielder, and stopper,” said Amougou.
