Singapore confirm Argentina friendly match in June

Singapore national football team will play Argentina in a June friendly match at the National Stadium, it was confirmed by the organisers on Wednesday.

The four-time AFF Suzuki Cup champions will take on the South American giants on June 13 to mark the 125th anniversary of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).

I am looking forward to leading my country out against the two-time FIFA World Cup champions, and we hope that Singaporeans will come out in force to cheer us on,” said Singapore coach V. Sundramoorthy.

“A packed stadium on 13 June will make a huge difference and give our players the boost they need against a team with so many talented, world-class players.”

FAS and the sports entertainment promoter UNICESS also revealed that the match will feature a star-studded Argentina side, including Barcelona’s Messi, Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and PSG winger Angel Di Maria.

This game is a part of Argentina’s far-east tour as they will also face Brazil in a “Superclasico” friendly in Melbourne, Australia on June 9.
