VIDEO: Shinji Kagawa shines despite Dortmund defeat

Shinji Kagawa had a game to remember when he played his part in both of Borussia Dortmund’s goals against AS Monaco in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Dortmund found themselves trailing after the first-half after Kylian Mbappe made the breakthrough on 19 minutes and Sven Bender’s own-goal 16 minutes later.

Ousmane Dembele pulled one back for the host in the 57 minute as he tapped home Kagawa’s square pass from close range.

Mbappe found the net again with a finesse shot 11 minute from time, following Lukaszcz Piszczek’s mistake.

The Bundesliga club continued to press in the final minutes and they were rewarded on 84 minutes. Kagawa deftly controlled Nuri Sahin’s pass before cutting back onto the left foot and slot past Danijel Subasic.

Dortmund will need to score at least two goals and not concede in the second leg next Tuesday if they want to advance.
