Indonesia to face Argentina in June friendly

Indonesia national team have lined up a high-profile friendly against Argentina on 13 June as part of their preparations for the 2017 SEA Games.

The game will be a part of Argentina’s far-east tour, with the South American giants will also visit Australia for a blockbuster clash with Brazil four days earlier.

Argentina have no shortage of world superstars, with Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain expected to draw thousands Indonesian spectators.

However, fans keen on watching skipper Lionel Messi in action could be disappointed as the Barcelona superstar has been suspended by FIFA for four games for verbally abusing an assistant referee during 2018 World Cup qualifier against Chile.

“We have received a letter [from Argentina’s federation] but we must check the availability of their squad. And they confirmed to bring senior team,” the general secretary of PSSI, Fanny Riawan said was quoted as saying by Detik.

Argentina, two-time World Cup champions, currently sit second in the FIFA world rankings, 173 places above Indonesia.
