OFFICIAL: Kiatisuk steps down as Thailand national team head coach

The former Thailand national team footballer announced his departure on his official Instagram account, just days after the War Elephants’ 4-0 defeat to Japan.

It was their sixth defeat in a disastrous campaign which saw them earn just one point from seven matches while conceding a staggering 19 goals against the likes of Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.

“Today, I would like to announce my decision to end my role as the national team’s head coach. I’ll complete all my remaining tasks within 90 days”, the former Hoang Anh Gia Lai footballer wrote.

“I’d like to thank my players, my coaching staffs, all the supporters as well as my family for always standing behind me”.

Kiatisuk was appointed as the head coach of the War Elephants in 2014. He guided the team to back-to-back ASEAN Football Championship titles in 2014 and 2016, as well as the King’s Cup in 2016.
