Iran 1-0 China (World Cup Qualification – Third Round)
Iran continued their dominance in Group A of World Cup Qualification third round when they beat China 1-0 at the Azadi Stadium last night.
The home side took the lead in the 46th minute after good work by Masoud Shojaei saw Mehdi Taremi hit home the only goal of the encounter.
Iran hold on to their Group A top spot with a safe 4-point lead over second-place South Korea, while China’s hopes of reaching Russia appear to be hanging by a thread. The East Asian side have only 5 points from 7 matches, with just 3 more games to play.
