1. Thailand (Ranked 43rd – September 1998)
Thailand suffered a major failure in the 1998 Tiger Cup which was hosted in Vietnam. However, two wins against Myanmar and Indonesia was enough for them to move up to the 43rd position in FIFA ranking in September 1998. The team also achieved 4th place at the Asian Games that year. It was the highest rank the War Elephants ever reached in its history.
