Perth Glory have boosted their squad ahead of the Hyundai A-League finals by signing Romanian international Lucian Goian on a short-term deal for the remainder of the season.
The 34-year old experienced central defender heads to Perth after playing for Indian giants Mumbai City in the Indian Super League (ISL) where he was voted the league’s best defender.
During this time he spent the season rubbing shoulders with former Glory midfielder Krisztian Vadocz and former Manchester United striker and Uruguayan international Diego Forlan.
Having represented his native Romania at the U-21 level, Goian played for local powerhouse Dinamo Bucharest and helped them win the Romanian League Championship, the Romanian Cup and the Romanian Supercup.
Prior to joining Mumbai, Goian plied his trade in China before returning to his homeland to play for two more seasons with FC Bracov and CFR Cluj.
Goian has been signed following season-ending injuries to Glory defenders Shane Lowry (quad) and Alex Grant (foot). He has commenced training with the squad and will don the number 26.
