Argentine striker Carlos Tevez is focusing on his career at Shanghai Shenhua, and won’t be distracted by the widespread rumors that he would quit the Chinese Super League to return to his home country, manager Gus Poyet said in a recent interview.
Shanghai Shenhua signed Carlos Tevez from Boca Juniors for €11 million in early January after offering a reportedly record-breaking contract. The Argentine has made his debut in the Chinese Super League, scoring a goal and assisting twice to help his team to a dominating 4-0 victory over Jiangsu Suning last week.
However, speculation has begun that Tevez is looking for a way to return to Argentina.
“The main problems for Tevez is language and food. Same as me, he can’t speak Chinese and he needs a translator all the time or he won’t be able to communicate with others”, Poyet told reporters.
“Rumours are saying that Tevez will leave China, but these rumors won’t affect him”, the former Sunderland coach added.
