Friendly match between Iran and Iraq canceled

A friendly match between Iran and Iraq, originally scheduled to play on March 18 has been canceled, according to sources.

The friendly match was initially scheduled to play behind-closed-doors at the Azadi Stadium in western Tehran, but for unknown reasons the game has been scrapped.

According to reports, the Lions of Mesopotamia will play Libya in Tehran on March 19 before moving to Qatar to host Australia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Iraq are currently participating in the 2018 World Cup qualification. The team are currently sitting in the fifth place in group B, with just three points from five matches.

Meanwhile, Iran are occupying the top spot in group A with 11 points from five matches.
