Fandi Ahmad takes charge of Singapore U-20 team

Singapore legend Fandi Ahmad has been appointed as the head coach of the Singapore U-20 team, official sources confirmed.

The 54-year-old was unveiled by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) as the director of the youth coaching system, overseeing the development of players from the ages of 19 to 23.

Fandi Ahmad has been scouting on youngsters who wasn’t attached to any of the youth teams in order to form a new Singapore Under-20 side.

His newly-created team will take on Mauritius U-21 team later this month in a friendly match hosted in Singapore.

In his playing day, Ahmad was one of the most well-known footballers in Singapore. He made more than 100 appearances for the Lions, scoring 55 goals in all competitions.
