Greece defender Avraam Papadopoulos joins Brisbane Roar

Greece international defender Avraam Papadopoulos has joined Brisbane Roar ahead of  2017 AFC Champions League group stage.

The former Olympiacos player will fill the position of Daniel Bowles who will need surgery after anterior cruciate ligament injury and will miss the rest of the season.

Papadopoulos has been capped 37 times by the Greece national team and last played for J.League club Jubilo Iwata in November. He will be one of four foreigners in Brisbane Roar’s squad in 2017 AFC Champions League group stages.

Brisbane are in Group E of the AFC Champions League with 2016 FIFA Club World Cup runner ups Kashima Antlers, Thai League winners Muangthong United and Korea Republic side Ulsan Hyundai.
