Western Sydney Wanderers boss Tony Popovic has denied claims he’s set to replace under-pressure Shanghai Shenhua head coach Gus Poyet.
The Chinese Super League giants are reportedly considering the possibility of Australian tactician to replace Poyet despite having only joined in November.
Poyet’s role is under threat after Shenhua failed to qualify for the group stage of the AFC Champions League following a surprise loss to Brisbane Roar in a play-off last week.
“It’s certainly something furthest from my mine at the moment,” Popovic said.
“That speculation is a little bit old. That’s going to happen with coaches and players alike, it is what it is.”
Popovic successfully led Western Sydney Wanderers to Champions League glory in 2014.
