Malaysia U23 team head coach Frank Bernhardt is in danger of losing his job after an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Vietnamese in a recent friendly match, according to reports.
Frank Bernhardt was appointed to oversee Malaysia’s campaign at the upcoming SEA Games, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in August. However, a defeat at the hand of traditional powerhouse Vietnam just six months before the event has left Bernhardt fighting for his job.
In a recent interview, the manager said he was disappointed with the result, but also pointed out that he didn’t get any help from the Malaysia Football Federation, as well as the clubs.
“I’ve always wanted to held training regularly, which will help us in the long term. But we failed to get any help from the local clubs”, the coach told a news reporter.
“A lot of my proposed plans were rejected. I want the players to play regularly in the domestic league, but the clubs turned down my plans. I want to hold full-time training from time to time, which was also rejected”, he added.
