Uzbekistan national football team captain Server Djeparov has signed a contract to play for Iranian club Sepahan until the end of the season.
Initially, Djeparov joined Esteghlal on a one-and-a-half year contract, but the club was unable to register him to play due to a transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC).
The Uzbekistan footballer is expected to return to his parent club when the transfer ban is lifted in the summer transfer window.
Previously, Djeparov had stints with FC Seoul, Seongnam FC and Ulsan Hyundai before making the move to Iran. He has won the AFC Asian Footballer of the Year award twice in 2008 and 2011.
