Xavi signs contract extension with Al-Sadd until 2018

Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez has signed a one-year extension to his current contract with Qatari club Al-Sadd.

The new contract will see him remain at Al-Sadd until 2018, according to an announcement from the club.

The Barcelona legend joined Al-Sadd in 2015, after winning a second “Treble” – Spanish La Liga title, Copa del Rey trophy and the Champions League cup – with the Blaugrana.

The former Spain international footballer has played more than 50 league matches for Al-Sadd, helping them to finish third in the domestic league last year.

Xavi is likely to hang up his boots in 2018. He has already begun to work towards his coaching licenses.
