Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff will be joined by Brendan Rodgers’ right-hand man Chris Davies at Tottenham

Leicester City gaffer Brendan Rodgers’ trusted right-hand man Chris Davies is set to join Ange Postecoglou’s coaching team at Spurs.

This new development is likely to work in Celtic’s favor as Rodgers has spoken to Kennedy to make clear his intentions that he wants him to remain at the club, with talks still in progress and a Spurs move for Davies appears to make the prospect of Kennedy staying more likely.

Spurs’ new Aussie manager offered Kennedy a four-year deal in north London but despite having expressed his interest to leave, the former Scotland defender’s is bound by the terms of an agreement blocking the Australian from poaching former staff.

Welshman Davies was previously Celtic’s assistant boss between 2016 and February 201 and had been touted as being in pole position for the head coach post at Swansea City. This should be of interest to Hearts prior to the appointment of Steven Naismith as the 38-year-old has expressed his desire to remain in English football.

Celtic are also eager to resolve Kennedy’s situation before confirming the return of Rodgers as manager.

The Northern Irishman has asked Leicester City first team post-match analyst Jack Lyons and performance coach Glen Driscoll to join him as he prepares for a sensational return to Parkhead as he applies the finishing touches to his new-look backroom team.

The 50-year-old – who has also been wooed by major shareholder Dermot Desmond – was scheduled to meet up with chief executive Michael Nicholson and chief financial officer Chris McKay who had both flown to Mallorca last Saturday.

A deal to return was sorted out after directors agreed to invest in the players and infrastructure necessary to establish the club as a competitive force in Europe.
