Kylian Mbappe finally changes tune on who is the GOAT

Kylian Mbappe seems to have finally made a change of heart in his views on the GOAT debate with his latest U-turn revealing his current choice.

The eternal football GOAT debate has always pitted Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo against each other inevitably as both the icons have dominated the football world in the last decade and a half at least, with the pair winning 12 Ballon d’Or’s between them – and it appears most likely that the Argentinean could well be on his way to an 8th this year for his outstanding achievements in the recent Qatar World Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has finally appeared to have a change of heart and is singing a discernibly different tune on who is football’s GOAT between Messi and Ronaldo.

The inevitable debate on who is the better player between the two football icons has kept apart two different worlds of fans, pundits and football peers loyal to both legends. Both of them have unquestionably and indubitably dominated the football scene for a considerable period of time now, with the duo winning every available international award between them.

Mbappe is but one player who had all the while, at least prior to the Qatar World Cup finals, been known to be a huge admirer of Ronaldo, with Mbappe’s father having previously indicated that his son held the Portuguese ace in the highest esteem, with the forward’s former teammate Abdou Diallo confirming this.

However, the PSG ace has apparently changed his old stance after the FIFA Awards on Monday night.

The Mirror reports the glitzy ceremony held in Paris to celebrate the best players in 2022 saw Messi being acclaimed the Best Men’s Player of the Year. The Barcelona legend was also named in the FIFPRO Men’s World XI, thanks to his scintillating form which helped Argentina win the World Cup.

Notably, while sending his congratulatory message to Messi on Instagram, Mbappe alluded to his change in GOAT choice – “Another trophy at home. Big congratulations to @leomessi you are #TheBest,” Mbappe posted.

From another stellar superstar now being acclaimed as the new generation’s best footballer, this is surely equivalent to one of the highest awards the diminutive Argentine has ever received.
