Thailand Hit Mongolia for Six, Lebanon Clash Looms as Real Test
Thailand kicked off their Group F campaign in style on Wednesday, sweeping aside Mongolia with a commanding 6-0 victory. The result highlighted the team’s attacking depth, with Seksan Ratree netting a clinical hat-trick, while rising midfielder Iklas Sanron caught the eye with a performance full of flair and energy.
Sanron, who plays his club football for Prachuap FC, set the tone early when he struck the opener inside the second minute. His pace, creativity, and physical presence stood out throughout the contest, earning praise from head coach Thawatchai.
“He has talent, speed, and strength,” said Thawatchai after the match. “Today he passed the test, but he still needs a lot of work. Scoring in the first match gives him confidence, but the next game against Lebanon will be even tougher.”
Despite the emphatic scoreline, Thawatchai stressed the importance of continued tactical refinement, particularly in defense. “We have to work on our homework, both in terms of playing with a back three and defending against counterattacks,” he added.
Rotation was also a key part of Thailand’s strategy. Phichitchai Sienkrathok was introduced in a holding midfield role to help conserve energy and protect the squad’s condition ahead of their remaining group fixtures. “Everyone needs to get a chance to play to maintain balance and freshness,” Thawatchai noted.
With three points secured and momentum on their side, Thailand will now shift focus to a much sterner challenge against Lebanon, a game expected to test their credentials at both ends.
