Pyari Xaxa, who also scored India’s only goal in the 2-1 loss against the same opponents earlier this week, opened the scoring in the 48th minute only for Win Theingi Tun to equalise just two minutes later.
India are currently ranked 67th in the FIFA women’s rankings while the Myanmar women’s football team is 54th.
India came close to taking the lead inside the first 10 minutes but Soumya Guguloth’s lofted ball over the top of the hosts’ backline was collected by goalkeeper Myo Mya Mya Nyein just before an outstretched Anju Tamang could make contact.
The two teams eventually went into half-time level at 0-0.
India showed more attacking intent after the restart and took a much-deserved lead three minutes into the half. Pyari got on the end of a long clearance from goalkeeper Elangbam Panthoi Chanu, powered past Lin Lae Oo and beat opposition keeper Myo Mya Mya Nyein.
However, India’s lead lasted barely two minutes as Win Theingi Tun scored with a first-time shot after an inviting cross from the right by Yoon Wady Hlaing.
With both sides searching for the winner, the last 10 minutes saw plenty of action. Anju lofted a glorious ball for Soumya to chase in the box but she failed to get it under control.
Meanwhile, at the other end, Panthoi Chanu had to stay alert deep in injury time. She first denied Win Theingi Tun’s high shot with a strong palm and then punched out a swerving free-kick from Myat Noe Khin.
The last chance to win the match fell India’s way just before the final whistle but Sangita could only sky her shot in the 94th minute when a loose ball fell onto her path after Myanmar cleared Ashalata Devis free-kick.
India are still winless in seven encounters against Myanmar.
