The group stage matches of the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2023 season have officially concluded and the Super Six phase has already kicked off, some fixtures of the phase of the league have already been decided.
The Calcutta Football League (CFL) is one of the biggest state football in India. The league features the country’s three of biggest clubs, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting Club. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have used this league to develop their reserve squad which would serve as a supply line to their senior squad in days to come as players like Lalrinliana Hnamte, Kiyan Nassiri and Suhail Bhat have already made a name for themselves in the ongoing CFL campaign. While on the red and gold camp, players like Niranjan Mondal, Aman CK, Jesin TK and Mahitosh Roy have exhibited their class in the ongoing CFL.
This season, the Indian Football Association (IFA), the governing body of football in West Bengal, came up with a new idea to revolutionise the Calcutta Football League. They decided to merge the two top divisions, the Premier A and Premier B, which made it a 26-team league. However, all the teams were divided into 2 groups of 13 teams each.
The group stage of the CFL 2023 was played over the last 2 months. And now the competition has reached its final phase, the Super Six phase. A total of 6, the top 3 teams from each group, have entered the Super Six round. From Group A are Diamond Harbour FC, Mohammedan SC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant. From Group B are East Bengal FC, Bhawanipore FC, and Kidderpore SC.
In the Super Six round of the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2023, all the teams will play against each other once. All the teams will play a total of 5 matches and the club who will have the most points at the end of it all (points from the group stage are carried forward), will be crowned the Calcutta Football League 2023 champion.
The Super Six phase of the CFL 2023 has already kicked off when Mohammedan SC beat Kidderpore on the 17th of September. Below are all the fixtures of the Calcutta Football League 2023 Super Six round (more will be updated when available).
