Fernando Torres will leave Atletico Madrid when the season ends means he is unlikely to play in the UCL again too.
The 34-year-old striker celebrated winning the trophy with Chelsea in the 2011/12 campaign and has featured in the tournament on 79 occasions. However, the result was secondary to the extensive tributes which were paid to Atletico’s legendary striker Torres in what was his final match for his boyhood club. After scoring 129 goals in 404 games with Atletico, Torres said it was difficult to know he would never put on the shirt again, but that he believes his connection to the club will continue at some point in the coming years.
