Juventus and Real Madrid end in controversy when Gianluigi Buffon was sent off in added time.
The 40-year-old veteran, who has never won the UCL, angrily protested a penalty that was awarded to Los Blancos in the dying seconds of the clash, in what might have been the goalkeeper’s last involvement in Champions League football.
There is talk that the Italian could hang up his boots at the end of the campaign, having already done so for the Italian national team in November last year – although he has since made a return to the national fold.
The 40-year-old has made 656 appearances for the Old Lady during a 17-year stint for the club.He helped Juve to nine Serie A titles but missed out on his dream Champions League trophy. He said “You have to leave at the opportune moment and this was the right time.”
But now it appears he will have another shot of being crowned European champion this time in the colors of the French champions. Buffon is believed to have agreed on a deal to join Thomas Tuchel’s PSG and pocket £6.14million-a-year.
