After 12 years, 464 appearances and 12 major trophies, Michael Carrick signed off his Manchester United career in fitting fashion.
Carrick has played in some enthralling matches at Old Trafford since he joined United from Tottenham Hotspur for £18.6million in 2006.
Unwilling to play out a token farewell against Watford, Carrick plucked a performance straight from the 2012/13 collection.
With the scores tied at 0-0, the 36-year-old released Juan Mata with a trademark ball over the top, who then found Marcus Rashford for the game’s only goal.
It was a special moment on an emotional day. Each Carrick pass tugged on the heartstrings of those at Old Trafford.
And many fans took to social media to thank the United legend for his 12 years at the club.
