The £12million full-back defender made a switch from Arsenal in January for Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne on a free. The32-year-oldd defender hasn’t given retirement a moment’s thought this season and has been a revelation since returning to French football .In all Debuchy has made 12 league appearances for St Etienne and his impressive performances have prompted talk of a return to the France national team at the World Cup .But the fairy tale run and hopes of a “magic” return to the World Cup has been dashed with the selection of Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City), Benjamin Pavard (Stuttgart), Adil Rami (Marseille), Djibril Sidibe (Monaco) ahead of him.
