{"id":62301,"date":"2024-10-29T15:20:13","date_gmt":"2024-10-29T07:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/football-tribe.com\/malaysia\/?p=62301"},"modified":"2024-10-29T15:20:13","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T07:20:13","slug":"stefan-borson-drops-update-on-final-man-city-v-premier-league-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/football-tribe.com\/malaysia\/2024\/10\/29\/stefan-borson-drops-update-on-final-man-city-v-premier-league-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"Stefan Borson drops update on final Man City v Premier League decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-title\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"article-meta\">\n<div class=\"post-date\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">It seems most likely now that Manchester City\u2019s associated party transactions (APT) dispute with the Premier League could now drag on until next year, which is the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Football Insider<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"> the timetable for a conclusion to the matter will depend on how substantial the rewrite of the APT rules will be.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Man City had promptly proceeded to take legal action against the Premier League regarding the APT rules currently in place at an arbitration hearing in June and now b<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">oth sides have claimed a victory in the case after the arbitration panel\u2019s decision was published on 7 October, where two aspects of the rules were deemed to be unlawful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">After the 20 top-flight clubs held a meeting on Tuesday (22 October) to discuss the next steps, the Premier League will now update its proposals around rules governing commercial deals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Borson revealed the clubs will require 21 days\u2019 notice before they vote on any potential changes to the rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"carousel carousel-js c-has-mpu\" data-mode=\"post\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"post-list c-list load-list c-list-js\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/wp-json\/v2\/posts\/carousel\" data-internal=\"1\" data-mode=\"carousel\" data-status=\"loaded\">\n<article class=\"article\">\n<div class=\"article-content inline\">\n<div class=\"article-details\">\n<div class=\"post-meta post-author\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">He told\u00a0<em>Football Insider<\/em>:\u00a0<em>\u201cI get the impression that they didn\u2019t do very much in that meeting on Tuesday.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cThe first point is that they are waiting for the tribunal to give some further guidance in respect of certain points that they will both make submissions in respect of.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"footb-1266912031\" class=\"footb-youtube-subscribe\">\n<div class=\"aa-whatsapp-cta\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cThose may have been made in writing rather than in a hearing, but we just don\u2019t know in terms of the next steps.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty clear that there is an agreement between City and the Premier League to put some additional questions to the tribunal and to see if they can get a view.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cI suspect what that will be is the extent of the unlawfulness of the existing rules, such that the question is \u2018Can they effectively replace certain clauses, or do they have to have a more wholesale rewrite of certain aspects of the rules?\u2019.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cClearly, if it\u2019s a bigger rewrite, that\u2019s going to take longer, and that\u2019s going to stretch the process out, potentially even into next year just because of where we are in the calendar.<\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cThey need at least 21 days\u2019 notice in respect of any proposals, so those would be sent to the clubs, then there would be 21 days before they vote, effectively in an extraordinary general meeting as it\u2019s known.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u201cThey will then have to get the two-thirds majority that they require.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems most likely now that Manchester City\u2019s associated party transactions (APT) dispute with the Premier League could now drag on until next year, which is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the timetable for a conclusion to the matter will depend on how substantial the rewrite of the APT rules will be.
