Former Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has surprisingly defended Manchester City over their legal battle with the Premier League with the Club facing 115 charges\u00a0relating to breaches of Financial Fair Play between 2009 and 2018.<\/p>\n
A landmark verdict ruled in favor of the reigning champions to give them a massive victory earlier this month, as reported by Mail Sport’s Mike Keegan, as a panel of retired judges adjudicated that regulations aimed at preventing clubs from inflating deals linked to their owners breach the Competition Act.<\/p>\n
With the trial expected to rumble on for months, Wenger believes the whole situation is verging on becoming a travesty and has gone way too far.<\/p>\n
He told beIN SPORTS: ‘I feel the rules of Financial Fair Play today have to be changed in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
‘Because they now face competition from other leagues, who have changed their Financial Fair Play rules.<\/p>\n
‘At the moment you cannot hear a club like Man City being charged by 115 different charges in a football season. I don’t believe in that.<\/p>\n
‘The Premier League already lost a case, the first case against them. I don’t know them [City], I can’t judge them.<\/p>\n
‘I just think, 115 different charges against a football club today looks like we are in an international administration.<\/p>\n
