Fresh from their victory over Brighton, Spurs captain Son Heung-min says the club have \u2018realistic goals\u2019 in a reference to them targeting the UCL spot over chasing for the Premier League title honors.<\/p>\n
Son and his team are apparently on a firm footing as he\u00a0says the team isn\u2019t harboring dreams of clinching the league title, according to Mirror.\u00a0Son\u2019s statements were made immediately after Tottenham\u2019s invigorating performance against Brighton. He says:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are doing our best from our position and [what is] expected of us. There are so many contenders. There are so many favorites. Man City, Liverpool is flying now. From our position, we want to give our best and at the end of the season we are where we take it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Son went on to highlight the club\u2019s priority of securing the Champions League spot for the next season, despite there being many who believe Spurs to be a favorite to clinch the Premier League title. On the contrary, Son\u2019s statements reveal a different plan being devised by the manager and the squad.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on Tottenham\u2019s \u2018never give up\u2019 attitude in a direct reference to their dramatic win against Brighton, Son admits the club would prefer not to put pressure on themselves and would prefer to pursue more realistic goals.<\/p>\n
The North London outfit had undergone a patchy period from November, plagued with injury woes, suspensions, departure of players for national duties \u2013 the list was never-ending. This led to Spurs trailing ssome ways behind in the title race.<\/p>\n
Ange Postecoglou and his boys now aim to end up among the top four to clinch the UCL spot for the next season. This is a distinct possibility as Tottenham are only seven points behind league leaders Liverpool and five points behind Manchester City and Arsenal.<\/p>\n
