Manchester City have put pen and paper to 18-year-old Argentine midfielder Claudio Echeverri\u2019s deal from River Plate on Thursday in a move following in the footsteps of compatriot Julian Alvarez.<\/p>\n
The deal for Echeverri \u2013 who captained Argentina to the semifinals of the Under-17 World Cup in late last year and scored a hat trick in the quarterfinals against Brazil \u2013 reportedly cost City 12.5 million pounds. He signed a contract until the summer of 2028, but will remain at River until January next year.<\/p>\n
Alvarez had himself arrived at the Etihad from River Plate in 2022, having before that returned to the Argentine club on loan.<\/p>\n
Echeverri has already made six senior appearances for the Buenos Aires club, which is coached by former City defender Martin Demichelis.<\/p>\n
