A pugnacious Arsenal selection overpowered Wolves 2-1 on Saturday to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points.<\/p>\n
Decisive goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard put the Gunners comfortably 2-0 up inside 13 minutes although the Gunners were unable to put the game to bed, not due to lack of trying, and were made to labor even harder when an alert Matheus Cunha found the top corner in the 86th minute.<\/p>\n
Fortunately the slight wobble was insufficient to unsettle Arsenal, who gamely held on to notch their 10th win in 14 league games, hence moving them four points clear of champions Manchester City.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can only praise the players,\u201d said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were excellent. We played against a really good side and generated so much and conceded almost nothing. The scoreline should have been very different. We were very unlucky because we hit the post three times I think.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end we made an error close to the goal – in the Premier League you get punished big time for that. Then it’s game on. Overall I\u00b4m really happy with how we performed again.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the other end of the table, Burnley finally managed to secure their first home win of the season in style with a decisive 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield United.<\/p>\n
The home side was thrust ahead with just 15 seconds on the clock after Jay Rodriguez fired the first salvo with the fastest goal of the season so far. Jacob Bruun Larsen then extended their lead.<\/p>\n
The Blades found it an impossible task to resist Burnley\u2019s relentless onslaught when Oli McBurnie received a second yellow card shortly before the break.<\/p>\n
Zeki Amdouni, Luca Koleosho and Josh Brownhill all registered on the final score board, striking in the final 17 minutes as all hell broke loose for the Blades\u2019 side.<\/p>\n
Paul Heckingbottom\u00b4s floundering side has now conceded five goals, or more goals on three occasions, this season as they continue their descent into the murky depths to the bottom of the table.<\/p>\n
