Manchester City\u00a0manager Pep Guardiola has warmly welcomed Ange Postecoglou\u2019s appointment as the new Tottenham manager after the departure of Antonio Conte.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, the arrival of the Australian on a four-year contract was officially confirmed by Spurs after Postecoglou\u2019s trophy-laden tenure at Celtic.<\/p>\n
The former Hoops Aussie boss will officially start work on July 1 with the understanding that he wants to bring John Kennedy, his assistant at Parkhead, with him, according to Standard Sport.<\/p>\n
Spurs are understood to be forking out around \u00a35 million in compensation to the Glasgow giants after the gaffer turned down the offer of a new contract.<\/p>\n
Guardiola has given his clear backing in full support of the 57-year-old making his debut in these parts despite the former Celtic boss\u2019 move to the Premier League having scepticism from some circles given his lack of experience in elite European competition.<\/p>\n
Postecoglou had worked under the City Football Group\u2019s umbrella during his three-year stint in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos and had been acquainted with Guardiola in Tokyo.<\/p>\n
Asked whether it was a good appointment by Spurs, Guardiola said: \u201cAbsolutely, another exceptional manager is coming.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was lucky to meet him in Toyko years ago when he was the manager of Yokohama, one of the clubs in CFG [City Football Group]. It was an interesting chat. At Celtic he did an incredible job.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully we can score one goal away.\u201d<\/p>\n
