Tottenham Hotspur are still on the lookout for their next manager, with Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot firmly in pole position as the club’s preference after a standout season in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n
Despite relishing the challenge of managing in the Champions League, 44-year-old Slot \u2013 who led Feyenoord to the title last week \u2013 is willing to put that dream on hold to test himself in the Premier League\u00a0and is keen to become Antonio Conte\u2019s permanent successor. He would cost Spurs something to the tune of \u00a36million in compensation which would be viewed as a price definitely worth forking out for by Tottenham’s top brass as they consider him a better fit than other candidates like former Barcelona\u00a0and Spain head coach Luis Enrique and Sporting Lisbon\u2019s widely-heralded Ruben Amorim.<\/p>\n
Speaking ahead of the newly-crowned Eredivisie champions\u2019 game this weekend against FC Emmen, Slot said: “I\u2019m under a huge magnifying glass in everything I say about this subject.<\/p>\n
“So I choose to say as little as possible again … when it comes to new clubs there\u2019s a huge scale in every word I use, so I try not to talk about it until I can say something about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
He did however add: “The next step will not be another club in Holland, if that is the next step and if I fail completely in the upcoming few years.<\/p>\n
“The normal next step would be to go abroad and I’ve always said the best league in the world is the Premier League but when it comes to Italy you can see there are a few clubs playing in European finals now.
