Roy Hodgson is apparently on the verge of signing a new deal to stay on as Crystal Palace\u00a0manager, according to a new report.<\/p>\n
The former England manager stepped in to replace Patrick Vieira at Selhurst Park following the latter\u2019s firing and the 75-year-old has respectably acquitted himself as he helped to steer the south London club away from relegation and into mid-table safety.<\/p>\n
Initially the deal was only to see out this season but Hodgson’s success could now see him remaining in charge in August when he turns 76, as The Sun report that Palace chairman Steve Parish is giving serious thought to handing Hodgson a one-year contract.<\/p>\n
The former England manager has reportedly gone on record to say that he\u00a0does not consider himself to be \u2018retired\u2019, and would be willing to keep managing the club.\u00a0As the country’s oldest top-flight manager already, he would just be extending his own record with a longer stay at Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n
Hodgson has previously managed Crystal Palace between 2017 and 2021 before leaving by mutual consent. He was briefly Watford boss last year, before resuming at the helm with the Eagles again in March after Vieira’s exit.<\/p>\n
Crystal Palace, currently in 12th place in the Premier League, have remaining fixtures against Fulham and Nottingham Forest this season.<\/p>\n
