England’s all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane has been slated to be on the move this summer with the likes of both Bayern Munich and Manchester United reportedly interested to secure his signature.<\/p>\n

However, latest reports allege that Bayern Munich club legend Lothar Matthaus has warned that Harry Kane is “too old and expensive”, as news continues to swirl in relation to the England captain\u2019s move away from Tottenham this summer as his current deal with the club is set to expire in 2024.<\/p>\n

As it stands, the club may be at risk of losing him for free the following year if he decides against renewing his contract, meaning that they have to sell him in the summer to avoid him walking out as a free agent. Bayern are among those allegedly keen to secure Kane\u2019s services, alongside Manchester United who are hotly favored to get Kane\u2019s nod of approval.<\/p>\n

However, the Bundesliga club\u2019s legend Matthaus\u2019s inclination is that Bayern should not look to sign 29-year-old Kane due to his age and value, which is likely to be over \u00a3100m. Alternatively, the former Bayern skipper named Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Eintracht Frankfurt\u2019s Randal Kolo Muani and Werder Bremen star Niclas F\u00fcllkrug as potential candidates instead.<\/p>\n

Matthaus wrote in a column for Sky Deutschland<\/em>: “I’m excited to see if a new striker comes along. Everyone is talking about Victor Osimhen for his sensational performance at Napoli. You never know if he can do that in Munich, but I think he would be a good fit.<\/p>\n

“Randal Kolo Muani may need a little more room and space than a Bayern striker usually has, but he’s also good in the box and could work in Munich. Harry Kane\u00a0would be too old and too expensive for me.<\/p>\n

“The price-performance ratio could speak for Niclas F\u00fcllkrug. He would probably be available for \u20ac20-25 million [\u00a317.6m-\u00a322m] and score 25 goals in Munich. He’s already scored 20 times at Werder.”<\/p>\n

Bayern’s honorary president and supervisory board member Uli Hoeness has also previously expressed similar thoughts in an interview with Sky Deutschland last month regarding a potential move for Kane: “I can imagine a player coming who costs \u20ac100m (\u00a388m). But in the case of Kane in particular, I’ve expressed my opinion.<\/p>\n

“He’s almost 30 years old. Last year, Tottenham rejected an offer from City for \u20ac160m (\u00a3142m). That’s why I said it wasn’t a transfer for Bayern.
