TalkSPORT pundit Alex Crook has berated Frank Lampard after Everton\u2019s horrific run of form as the team were booed off after losing 4-1 at home to Brighton, and are dangerously close to the relegation zone after just one win in their last ten matches.<\/p>\n
Lampard has come under intense scrutiny for this poor run, and could be in danger of losing his job.<\/p>\n
Crook claimed that while speaking on TalkSPORT he was shocked that the former Chelsea star had not been sacked already and believes that he may not last longer in his role.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think Lampard gets a free pass. One win in ten is not good enough at any level of football,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would be surprised if he survives; I was surprised he survived the back-to-back defeats I saw at Bournemouth just before the World Cup break. They were abject, twice, in four or five days. Everton\u2019s away fans were very unhappy with the performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo me, he looks out of his depth.\u201d<\/p>\n
Admitedly it is not unreasonable to suggest that Lampard deserves to be sacked, but one suspects the reason he is still in charge at Goodison Park is that strong alternative candidates are not readily available at the moment.<\/p>\n
The situation is further exacerbated with the club being in a relegation battle and transfer funds seemingly tight, which makes the job not perhaps the most desirable job for a top manager to take over at this crucial juncture in time.<\/p>\n
Even highly-experienced experienced managers like Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Benitez had failed impact significant long-term change at the club, which could possibly account for there not being an obvious plan in the event Lampard is sacked.<\/p>\n
However the coin falls should Everton make a mistake at this point either by keeping Lampard or hiring a worse replacement, they could be in even greater danger of a first-ever relegation from the Premier League.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s certain is that they appear set to face a tense second half of the season either way.<\/p>\n
