Liverpool\u2019s Luis Diaz has been ranked as the third highest valued player in England, according to the Liverpool Echo citing data from the CIES Football Observatory.<\/p>\n
The Echo report that Diaz is now worth in excess of \u00a3100m and that valuation has reportedly seen him jump ahead of Liverpool teammates Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.<\/p>\n
However, the Reds forward\u2019s valuation isn\u2019t enough for him to claim top-spot in the Premier League as that honor belongs to Manchester City who hold both of the two highest valued players in the country. Unsurprisingly, of course, Erling Haaland is one them but Phil Foden\u2019s inclusion comes as a bit of a surprise.<\/p>\n
However one chooses to view it, Liverpool\u2019s signing of Diaz\u00a0was great business as it could have been attributed to the Colombian being arguably the difference between The Reds winning a domestic double last season or ending it empty-handed.<\/p>\n
Diaz\u2019s arrival from Porto was the adrenaline shot in the arm Liverpool desperately needed after flagging around New Year. It isn\u2019t easy to put an exact valuation on him although there wouldn\u2019t be any real need to now as the 25-year-old isn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n
It would be interesting to ask if supporters would say he\u2019s more valuable to the team than Salah for example? Highly unlikely as Mo has been a constant source of goals over his five years at the club and is definitely deserving of his status as Liverpool\u2019s top scorer and best-paid player.<\/p>\n
Then would Diaz be more valuable a player than someone like Virgil Van Dijk or Alisson Becker? Again, probably not at this stage although he could be in the near future as the potential is clearly there.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s more significant is that Diaz clearly proved again on Monday night that he\u2019s ready to be in the reckoning as one ready to stand up and be counted for the team. It would have been only too easy for him to just shrug his shoulders having seen Darwin Nunez sent off with The Reds a goal down, but he didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
On the contrary, he instead tore around the pitch like a man possessed with his goal an undeniable banger, too. And what was even more impressive was his tracking back constantly to help teammate Kostas Tsimikas defend. Hence it is hardly surprising then that he has been ranked as the third highest valued player in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
Following Sadio Mane\u2019s departure, Diaz has taken on great importance to Liverpool. If he can keep maintaining this pace, then accolades of this kind will surely continue to follow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
