Unbelievable though it may sound, it looks like Cristiano Ronaldo might have no options but to throw in his lot with Manchester United after all as it is beginning to appear that no one is really all that keen in the superstar. At least not at 37 and unable to keep up the pace with the tenacious young lions of today’s game like Erling Haaland or Mbappe.

Ronaldo would likely feel like the walls are already beginning to close in on him in his twilight years as the career options are getting noticeably less with each successive season. Now with Chelsea joining Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in opting not to sign the 37-year-old, his insatiable thirst for further Champions League glory to seal his legacy are rapidly fading away.

It now looks quite likely that the Portuguese star could be locked in a lop-sided relationship with Manchester United – albeit the latter would be most joyful for their Portuguese savior to stick around – and have to grit his teeth while disdainfully slugging it out in the Europa League for the first time since he started out at Sporting Lisbon two decades ago.

Crikey, what a horrifying scenario for the Portuguese world-beater that would be.

Anyway, if all else fails and all the hopeful dominoes fall, AS Roma could be a final option as Ronaldo has also been linked, more optimistically, with the Serie A club and it is not impossible to imagine Jose Mourinho relishing a reunion since their Real Madrid days. The only problem with this scenario would be Ronaldo refusing to budge from his exorbitant salary demands, which would surely be well beyond their means.
