Several Rangers fans have been \u201cbanned indefinitely\u201d since footage emerged after the Rangers\u2019 4-2 win over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday of a social media video showing a group of Rangers fans allegedly chanting a racist song about Celtic\u2019s Japanese star Kyogo Furuhashi.<\/p>\n
The individuals have since been identified and, apart from banning the culprits involved, the club has also confirmed that no tickets would be given to the Rangers Supporters Club (RSC) they were travelling with.<\/p>\n
After joining Rangers\u2019 bitter Glasgow rivals from Vissel Kobe in the close season, Furuhashi has made a strong start with Celtic with the 26-year-old scoring six goals in seven games for the Bhoys, including a hattrick against Dundee.<\/p>\n
Furuhashi has warmly acknowledged the support of his own club and supporters, espousing on social media: \u201cI\u2019ll never walk alone.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRangers can confirm that an investigation is now complete in regard to a video circulating on social media yesterday,\u201d a Rangers statement said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe individuals involved have been identified and will be banned indefinitely from all Rangers games.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, the RSC of which they were members and travelled with to the game, have been banned from receiving tickets for future fixtures.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the force \u201cis aware of a video circulating on social media and officers are liaising with the club to make relevant enquiries\u201d.<\/p>\n
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou professed he would do everything possible to protect Furuhashi.<\/p>\n
The former Yokohama Marinos boss told Celtic TV: \u201cTo be honest, it saddens me a lot because I\u2019m the one who\u2019s brought him over here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI spent three-and-a-half years in Japan, and I was a foreigner, and I was welcomed with open arms over there. I know how polite and respectful the Japanese people were, and I\u2019m the one that brought Kyogo here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sure his experience is totally the extreme opposite of what\u2019s been portrayed in the last 48 hours. Talking to him, he loves being here, he loves the city, he loves the way everyone\u2019s embraced him.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not about education, people are more than well aware of what\u2019s right and wrong \u2013 just be a decent human being and treat people with respect.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur number one priority is to protect and support the player. He\u2019s a cracking guy.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf anyone ever comes across him, he\u2019s such a nice young man and he doesn\u2019t deserve any of that type of behavior. No one does, to be honest, no one does.\u201d<\/p>\n
