Manchester United\u2019s current contract with Juan Mata is set to expire at the end of the month with the club announcing two weeks back that they are in discussions with the midfielder to extend his stay.<\/p>\n
However, according to The Daily Star, Spanish international Mata\u2019s salary will be undergoing a substantial reduction if he decides to continue his career at Old Trafford, with the report claiming that his weekly wages will be slashed from \u00a3170,000 to \u00a3100,000.<\/p>\n
As compensation, however, he will be given add-ons depending on the number of times he features for United next campaign.<\/p>\n
The former Chelsea playmaker has ended up a bit-part player under Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having made just 18 appearances this past season, with his pace having decreased considerably in recent years which does not flow well with United\u2019s counter-attacking style of play.<\/p>\n
The Red Devils are expected to add more attacking talent in this transfer window which will again further limit his minutes on the pitch.<\/p>\n
Regardless, Mata has established himself as a fan favorite over his seven-year stay in Manchester and the 33-year old will always be respected as a great servant to the club whether he stays put or decides to pull up anchor.<\/p>\n
