England and Tottenham Hotspurs captain Harry Kane was reportedly left ‘numb with shock’ as he watched his former Spurs team-mate and Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen\u00a0collapse on the pitch and needing CPR on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The popular Denmark midfielder was quickly treated by medics on the pitch in Copenhagen during the first-half of their clash with Finland before being rushed to hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n
Thankfully Eriksen, 29, has now been confirmed to be in a ‘stable condition’ while convalescing in hospital, but the earlier scenes on the pitch had drawn deep concern from all across the football world, including within the England camp, with a report in The Sun claiming that the members of Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad, who kick off their Euro 2020 campaign against Croatia at Wembley on Sunday, were left stunned as they watched the game.<\/p>\n
A source close to the camp said: \u201cThey’re all numb and very upset.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to appreciate many of them have played with or against Christian. Harry is particularly devastated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kane, who played with Eriksen at Spurs between 2013 and 2020 before the Dane moved to Inter Milan, tweeted as the incident was unfolding.<\/p>\n
He posted: \u201cChris. I\u2019m sending all my love to you and your family. Stay strong, mate.\u201d<\/p>\n
After news had emerged that Eriksen had regained consciousness and able to speak to his team-mates following the incident, England’s official Twitter page expressed their support and concern for the 29-year-old’s well-being.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are encouraged by the update from [the Danish FA] this evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of The English FA, our players and staff, we send our very best wishes to Christian and those close to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur thoughts remain with Christian and his family tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n
There was a flurry of similar messages from the rest of the Three Lions squad, with Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish among those anxiously conveying their best wishes to the Dane.<\/p>\n
Sterling tweeted: \u201cThought and prayers go out to Christian Eriksen and his family’.<\/p>\n
Grealish wrote: \u201cEriksen. Please\u201d with several heart and prayer emojis.<\/p>\n
