Having gone from strength to strength since celebrated coach Pep Guardiola arrived at the club in the summer of 2016, Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling earlier this month became only the third player to score a century goals for the Spaniard.<\/p>\n
Sterling\u2019s immense influence in the City side is unquestionable, having lifted eight trophies in the last three years, and he believes the legendary Catalan coach has instilled a winner\u2019s attitude in his players with the 26-year-old saying that working under one of the game\u2019s most successful managers has taught him never to rest on his laurels.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust that winning mentality,\u201d said Sterling when asked how Guardiola had helped his team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is the thing I have learnt most from him and to not be content with what you have done and keep grinding, keep getting better and try to win more and more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite scoring the only goal of the game, extending City\u2019s winning streak to 18 games with the win over Mikel Arteta\u2019s Gunners and leaving the Cityzens side now 10-points clear at the top of the league, No.7 Sterling is taking nothing for granted.<\/p>\n
The Champions League campaign is now poised to resume and the England international admits they are approaching a critical point in the season, but explained City will continue to take a one game at a time approach while relaying a message his manager has rbeen harping on throughout the campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is still early days and we still have massive games coming up, but we keep our focus and go again,\u201d added the winger.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe won\u2019t get ahead of ourselves and we still know it is a long season to go. The Champions League is coming now so it is an important part of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will just keep our focus and go into the Champions League game this week, then after that the Premier League game. We will take it step by step and not get ahead of ourselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are fantastic teams in the league this season. All of the other teams have been grinding out results.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have just got to focus on ourselves and that is the most important thing. We are in control of our own destiny. Hopefully, it all works out well.\u201d<\/p>\n
