Portuguese midfielder and Man United ace, Bruno Fernandes, has been a most inspiring revelation since joining the club from Sporting Lisbon in January and Andy Cole is worried his stay may not be a long one.<\/p>\n
The former Manchester United striker thinks Manchester United have to start winning some trophies soon or risk losing Bruno Fernandes to top-flight preys in the upcoming seasons.<\/p>\n
The attacking midfielder\u2019s performances have been nothing short of sensational once again this season, scoring seven goal and creating four assists in 11 Premier League appearances, having almost single-handedly carried his side at times besides clearly establishing himself as surely the Red Devils’ most important player.<\/p>\n
Speaking on The Target Men Podcast, Cole admits he has been blown away by what he has seen from the player during his time at Old Trafford so far.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m very surprised to see how quickly Bruno Fernandes has taken to the Premier League since he joined Manchester United,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
“Bruno Fernandes joined the club for a big fee and I have to say I didn\u2019t know too much about him.<\/p>\n
“I wondered if he was going to be able to continue scoring goals and producing assists at the same rate this season now that clubs knew more about him, but he\u2019s arguably been even better!<\/p>\n
“Bruno Fernandes doesn\u2019t wear the captain\u2019s armband but anyone watching this Manchester United team can see that he is the leader of the dressing room and he leads by example on the pitch. He\u2019s a world class quality player.”<\/p>\n
Cole did, however, sound a warning to United, and thinks the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona will be keenly monitoring Fernandes’ progress closely ahead of a potential transfer bid in the near future.<\/p>\n
“The concern for Manchester United is that Bruno Fernandes has well and truly put himself on the map now,” he added.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s probably only a matter of time until there are rumours of a Barcelona and Real Madrid being interested in signing him and if Manchester United continue to not perform in the Champions League, no-one knows if his head could be turned in the years ahead.”<\/p>\n
Fernandes will be back in action on Thursday as United take on Sheffield United looking for a win which could move them as high as fifth in the table.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
