Jamie Carragher, not bothering to pull his punches, has labelled French midfielder Paul Pogba the most overrated player he has ever seen after his controversial agent announced that the Frenchman again wants to leave Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
Pogba\u2019s agent Mino Raiola on Monday again saw it fit to stir the muddying waters and openly urged United to sell their \u00a389million record signee next summer or risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires in June 2022 because he bluntly claims Pogba has no intentions at all of signing a new one.<\/p>\n
Raiola had no qualms about casting doubt over Pogba’s future before and the peculiar timing of his latest comments has infuriated both United\u2019s fans and pundits alike, with Jamie Carragher saying on\u00a0Monday Night Football<\/em>\u00a0that United should be happy to sell the World Cup winner as he called the pair a ‘disgrace.’<\/p>\n \u201cGet rid! I’ve been saying this for 12 months. The most overrated player I’ve ever seen in my life!\u201d Carragher said on\u00a0Sky Sports<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI think the two of them are a disgrace. We’ll all look at the agent now and ask Pogba what he thinks. Agents in this day and age, they are not just agents, they are a parent, a best friend, a financial adviser, they book holidays, they go away with each other.<\/p>\n \u201cThose two will be like that (crosses fingers). He will be Pogba’s best mate. So Pogba will be well aware of what was going to come out of his mouth. And if he wasn’t, he should sack his agent.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s very, very simple. That’s all that needs to happen. I mean I don’t know where he is going to go\u2026 who’s going to have him? I don’t get it?\u201d<\/p>\n His agent Raiola, who is infamously outspoken to th epoint of being rude and caustic, told Italian newspaper\u00a0Tuttosport<\/em>:\u00a0\u201cI can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United.<\/p>\n \u201cHe has to change teams, he has to change the air.<\/p>\n \u201cHe has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I believe the best solution for the parties is to sell in the next market.<\/p>\n \u201cOtherwise, the club, with whom relations are excellent, knows well that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that for the moment it is not the player’s intention to extend the contract.\u201d<\/p>\n Carragher is adamant that United should get rid of sell the 27-year-old soonest possible, after the World Cup winner returned to the club four years ago from Juventus amid high hopes he was ready to fulfil his potential.<\/p>\n \u201cMan United want rid of him – don’t kid yourself,\u201d Carragher continued.<\/p>\n \u201cOle Gunnar Solskjaer has been playing Scott McTominay and Fred in front of him in midfield. And he had to put him in because he was resting players.<\/p>\n \u201cHe hasn’t played for a month but he hasn’t been out. He has had an injury but before that he was on the bench. He played because they were resting players for Leipzig. Would you play him now, in Leipzig, on the back of that?\u201d<\/p>\n Carragher also referred to an almost idential situation when Cristiano Ronaldo moved from United to Real Madrid in 2009, but emphaticaly underlined the key difference being that same hassles with Pogba are certainly not worth putting up with.<\/p>\n \u201cRemember a few years ago, everyone knew that Ronaldo was going to Real Madrid but United had to put up with it because he was worth the hassle,\u201d Carragher added.<\/p>\n \u201cPogba is not worth the hassle. Get rid of him!<\/p>\n \u201cThere are only two clubs better than United and that’s Barca and Real Madrid. And when I say better I mean players (leaving) you can understand as they are the pinnacle of club football. Have to accept that.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is no chance in the world that Real Madrid or Barca will buy him. I’ll be flabbergasted again if they come in.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe a French thing with [Zinedine] Zidane there but I wouldn’t go anywhere near him.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
